Nubian Celebrity In The News

Wease starts with some celebrity news.  Taye Diggs graduated from Rochester's School Of The Arts, and is now a big Hollywood star.  TAYE got home from the "Screen Actors Guild Awards" at about 11:00 P.M. Sunday night . . . to find a burglar in his house.

--But instead of avoiding a confrontation, Taye went right at the guy . . . who took off running.  But Taye chased him down and held him until police showed up.  There was also a getaway driver, but he took off.

--The dude Taye caught is 20 years old, and he's being held on $50,000 bail.

We speak with Dennis Westfall from Hilton.  He and his wife Mary were featured on The History Channel's "American Pickers" last night.  He tells us of the behind the scenes negotiations of having his antiques purchased by the Pickers, the party he had at his house to watch the show, the cool stuff he has in his collection, and being a special education teacher with Monroe-Orleans No. 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Spencerport.  Very cool dude (and we dig his Amish style beard).

Tools With Sports

Wease and Johnny start by dicussing the struggles of the Buffalo Sabres, and whether some of the stars don't perform as well once they sign big contracts.

A Florida lawyer named Larry McGuinness is reportedly suing the Spurs after coach Gregg Popovich rested four of his players during a nationally televised game against the Heat in Miami in November.  He isn't trying to make money to put in his own pockets... if he somehow wins this case he'll donate the cash to Hurricane Sandy Relief.  This reminds us of the time the Cleveland Cavaliers played an exhibition game in Rochester, and Lebron didn't dress.

Also some breakdown of the upcoming Super Bowl, and how most of us on the show actually like staying home to watch the game, as opposed to going to a party full of distractions, and people that don't want to watch/hear the game.

71 Year Old Hooker

Last week, police in Connecticut busted a 71-YEAR-OLD woman for prostitution.  And, to her credit, she really doesn't look that bad.  Usually being a prostitute ages you QUICKLY, but she's holding up alright.  She was busted after placing an ad online for her escort services, then meeting an undercover cop at a hotel and agreeing to have sex for money.  See more pics of her HERE.

Wease wants to know why the police are spending their time busting this poor ho who's just making people feel good.  Go after the shootings and stabbings.

Congrats to Rochestarian Mariah English, who won that contest put on by Pepsi where you get to be on stage with Beyonce during the Super Bowl halftime show... you know the one with that ads that have been running like crazy during the football games for the past couple months.

Mariah says she is not a dancer but was a cheerleader at Wilson Magnet.

She hopes that helps her shine before the national audience.

"Dance with her that would be really cool Like so everybody could see me and her side by side that would be like amazing!!!" said English excitedly.

Mariah is studying fashion merchandising and would love to be a celebrity stylist.
She looks up to Beyonce.

"I just love her persona , who she is how she carries herself," said English.

She doesn't know if or when she'll get to meet the superstar.

"It's amazing, it is really amazing. Like I feel so blessed," said English.

We're very happy for you Mariah, but enough with the "likes".

Author Beth Raymer Lays The Favorite

Wease's current favorite book is "Lay The Favorite" by Beth Raymer (which has been made into a movie starring Rebecca Hall as Beth, and also Bruce Willis, Vince Vaughn, and Catherine Zeta Jones).  This is the most excited we've ever seen Wease for an interview.

Beth tells us about her history as an outcall stripper/waitress who falls in with professional gamblers.  She talks about winning and losing huge sums of money in her gambling career, the people she hung out with, the making of the film based on her life, etc...  Wease is so jealous that she has had the life he wants.  This chick better watch out... she may have a stalker in Brother Wease.

Bonus Content... Hot Sports Wives & Girlfriends

Jealousy

Because of the way Wease gushed over Beth Raymer he got a jealous text from Doreen, but he's not in as much trouble as Pauly after he talked to his exgirlfriend on the air yesterday about how much he loved her in high school.  He's also under pressure to get her a great Valentine's gift.

As a tribute to gambler Beth Raymer Wease brings up some of the prop bets for the big game...

Only fools still bet on the actual Super Bowl.  The REAL money is on stupid bets, called prop bets, which let you bet on the nonsense that surrounds the game.  Here are four actual bets you can make on various online sports books . . .

#1.)  Will Beyoncé show cleavage during her first song?  BEYONCÉ is doing the halftime show.  And yes, she WILL show cleavage is the overwhelming favorite, at -500 . . . meaning you bet $500 to win $100.  No is set at +300, so bet $100 to win $300.

#2.)  Will both coaches wear hats?  If you haven't heard ESPN mention it 75,000 times, the Super Bowl coaches are brothers.  So will they dress alike?  The odds they both wear hats are -1,000.  Odds against are +600.

#3.)  How long will the National Anthem last?  ALICIA KEYS is singing the National Anthem.  The over-under time is set at two minutes and five seconds.  The odds on both the over and under are -115.

#4.)  What color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach? There are different long odds on everything from +150 on water . . . +150 on yellow . . . +250 on orange . . . +500 on red . . . +550 on lime green . . . and +1,000 on blue.

What if someone knows the teams water boys and he tells you what color the Gatorade is?  What if you're a friend of Alicia Keys, and can influence how long she sings for?  Seems like some select people can influence the outcomes of these bets.

We Are The World

On this date in 1985 a classic song was recorded... After the American Music Awards the biggest names in music gathered together to record the all-star collaboration to benefit the starving people in Ethiopia.  We play the song and try to guess all the voices as we hear them.  You have the advantage, and get to see who is singing.

Boy Scout Controversy

Rochester, N.Y.—The Boy Scouts of America could be making dramatic changes to anti-gay policies, according to ABC News.

“I think it’s great, it seems like it’s long overdue,” said Joel Helfrich, a former Eagle Scout who cut ties with the scouts and returned his medals because of the anti-gay policies.

The Boy Scouts of America is considering an end to its bay on openly gay scout leaders. It’s a change that comes in part because of a drop in support from some of the group’s corporate sponsors.

“I think money is absolutely at the core of it,” said Scott Fearing of the Gay Alliance. “Yes, it’s about them wanting to do the right thing, hopefully, but I know that they’ve been forced to do the right thing.”

“We’re hoping it’s going to be really good and exciting,” said Stephen Hoitt, Executive Director of the Seneca Waterways Council, the local governing group of the Boy Scouts of America.

We speak to Mr. Hoitt about the situation, and how he's being roasted on right wing radio, but is hoping for the Boy Scouts to rethink how things have been done in the past.

College Educations

A story about how many people are overqualified for the jobs they have leads to Wease talking about the reverse... how many folks aren't as good as they should be at their jobs after a college education.  Wease talk about a doctor he had when he was younger and got a botched hernia operation.  Is someone overqualifies just because they have a college degree?  Does Wease's years of experience in broadcasting make him more qualified than someone with a million degrees in communications.

Bonus... Model Sophie Turner's Perfect Ass

Jennifer Lawrence

The other night at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards Wease's current favorite actress Jennifer Lawrence had a wardrobe malfunction, but not the kind guys hope for.  She ripped her dress on the way to the stage to accept an award, and was embarrassed.

Wease thinks her current flick "Siver Lining's Playbook" is his favorite movie of the year, but is worried that after all the praise the film has received people will go in with expectations too high that can't be lived up to.

Tomorrow's Show/Plugs

Join us for tomorrow's show with all of our normal stuff, plus Ask Wease (send us your questions via Facebook, email, Twitter, phone, smoke signals, or anyway else you can), plus Fadi Saleh, who's made a bunch of great video called "Barack Dubs" where it looks like President Obama is singing top 40 songs.  It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice.  See ya.
