After being listed as doubtful the first two weeks of the season, Safety Jairus Byrd has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. He will travel with the Bills, as will backup offensive guard Doug Legursky.
Byrd has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in both of his feet and missed the Bills’ first two games against the Patriots and Panthers. Being upgraded to questionable signifies that progress is being made but it’s also no guarantee that he’ll see the field on Sunday.
Legursky has been out since injuring his knee in the final preseason game. At the time, the injury looked significant and head coach Doug Marrone feared the worst. So the fact that he’s back practicing on a limited basis and is getting closer to playing is a good sign. If Legursky gets fully healthy soon, he could push left guard Colin Brown for the starting role. Those two battled in camp for the starting position and Brown hasn’t exactly locked down the spot through the first two weeks with his play.
Despite being listed as out, cornerback Stephon Gilmore is also making the trip to New York with the team.
