Man Accused Of Killing Teen Because She Wouldn't Pick Up Dropped Marijuana

An 18-year-old Kentucky man is facing a murder charge after he reportedly shot a 16-year-old girl in the head -- because she refused to pick up some marijuana that had fallen on the floor, police say. The incident happened early Tuesday morning in Burlington after Demarkus Hedges and four others had returned from a night out, according to Boone County authorities. When a baggie of marijuana fell to the floor, Hedges demanded that Scarlett Tucker pick it up, police say. When she refused, he pointed a gun at Tucker's head and fired one shot, killing her, witnesses told police. Although Hedges initially took off, he turned himself in Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He's currently being held on a $1 million bond.
