Netflix Cracking Down on Account Sharing

Netflix is finally cracking down on account sharing. The company said during its quarterly earnings call on Tuesday that it may begin charging subscribers an extra fee early next year for sharing a Netflix account. Password sharing has reportedly cost Netflix over $6 billion per year in lost revenue. Netflix has not yet announced how much extra it will charge for additional users. The company has been experimenting with the new account-sharing scheme in Latin America, where account holders are charged an extra $3-4 per “second home.” The streamer said that the cost of each additional user will vary based on the price of the initial account.
