Police: Someone's Setting Dangerous Booby Traps for ATV Riders

Someone in Sag Harbor, New York has a serious problem with dirt bike and ATV riders. Whoever it is has been setting traps that have almost killed a few of them, police say. The most recent victim, 17-year-old James Edler, was nearly decapitated by a green parachute cord that had been stretched across a nature trail in the Long Island community, police say. "I got knocked off the back of my quad, lost my helmet and stuff, went unconscious," Edler says, noting the color of the cord made it nearly impossible to see against the forest backdrop. "I probably could have died; broke my neck." Riding dirt bikes and quads on the trails is illegal, police say, and they've fielded numerous complaints from people who don't appreciate the noise. They believe someone is intentionally setting traps in an effort to stop the practice, says Lt. James Kiernan.
