WHAM 13 - "The father of a three-year-old girl who died last year will go to trial next month.
Michael Stagles walked into the Hall of Justice Tuesday morning for the first time since he posted bail in June.
Stagles held up both hands and made an obscene gesture to cameras before someone with him pulled his hands down. He then continued to mutter unintelligible phrases until he was out of earshot.
Stagles is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of Brook Stagles, his daughter. Brook died last November due to what prosecutors and family members maintain was severe child abuse.
Erica Bell, Stagles' girlfriend, is charged with murder in the case.
Stagles had his trial set for September 25. Bell will be tried separately; her trial is scheduled to begin September 11."
