4 Charged With Murder of Ontario Woman

WHEC - "Deputies say four people have been arrested in connection to an unattended and unexpected death in Wayne County.

The suspicious death happened in February in the Town of Ontario. Deputies were called to Orchard Grove Village Mobile Park on February 1st after 52-year-old Julie Martin was found dead in her trailer.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts said Martin’s daughter, 22-year-old Jasmine Harlee, conspired with three others for insurance money. Deputies arrested Harlee and 21-year-old Knowledge Couser of Rochester; 19-year-old Malquan Drayton of Pittsford; and 18-year-old Davonte Devine of Pittsford.  They were all charged with first degree murder and second degree conspiracy.

Deputies say Harlee was in a relationship with Couser. Couser and Devine are brothers.

According to the felony complaint, Harlee offered Devine $30,000 to kill her mother. Court documents state that Devine would split the $30,000 with Drayton.

Drayton and Devine hid in a closet and then smothered Martin with a pillow, while Harlee and Couser went to Rochester to sell a cell phone, according to the complaint. The complaint also says that Harlee used her mother’s bank card and withdrew $600 after her mother was killed. She then gave $150 to Devine and $50 to Drayton, according to the complaint.

The four defendants were arraigned in the Town of Ontario Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail without bail.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 315-946-9711. " WHEC
